"So Joshua when are we going to move out?" Danielle asked cleaning out her glock.

"I don't know," Joshua answered, "when is your team ready to move out?"

"Right now," she replied.

Joshua turned and grabbed his coat. Strapping his equipment to his side and then strapping a bow and quiver to his back, as well as a sword to his belt, he turned to the rest of the team. "Alright, I understand that one of you is a teleporter...think you can get us all there?"

"Provided you hold onto me and don't let go yes." Danielle moved to the center of the room and held out her hands. "Alright you guys know the drill."

Joshua grabbed hold of Danielle's shoulder and grabbed Kirai, placing her hand on Danielle's knee.

"Alright then...go for it. We don't have time to waste."

When Danielle was certain that her team had grabbed tight hold she ported to their destination.

*Crack*

They were now standing in the middle of a park, it was quiet grassy and surprisingly empty considering the warm breeze that was blowing through.

"I think I'm going topass out," Danielle muttered before collapsing onto the grass.

Joshua leans over Danielle and places his finger next to her neck.

"Are you alright?" He asked. "If you need to rest for a moment, that's okay."

"She ported too many people, she'll be fine in a few minutes," the ginger, Enigma, replied.

Joshua nodded and pulled out his bow.

"Alright, then we need to go ahead and establish a perimeter  We need to pour a circle of salt around the area, and I need you all on guard." Joshua called. He reached into his pack pocket and pulled out a bag of salt. He quickly began pouring it in a large circle around the team. "Until Danielle is ready to move, we stay put."

"Yessir," Sarah, the small pixie-like woman, said.

Joshua finished pouring the salt and then checked the area. He drew his bow and stood on the ready.

"Enigma, come here for a moment, we need to talk."

Enigma nodded and walked over to him, "Yes?"

"Enigma," Joshua whispered, "I need you to do me a favor...we know that we're dealing with a vampire and a werewolf...but we don't know what the third monster is. I don't like going against something that I don't know what it is. You and I are going to find out."

"Yessir."

"This creature is either a poltergeist or an oni...and we can't afford to be wrong about what it is...because oni's are SO much worse than poltergeist  If this is an oni, then we need to be extremely careful. Plus...if it is an oni, it already knows we're here. Which means that we've already been exposed to it. I need you to take Kirai somewhere safe...the oni will target her because she is a vampire." Joshua hissed so that no one else could hear them.

"Where do you want me to take her?"

"To a graveyard...or a church. An oni can't enter either of those places. Keep her there and tell her that I told her to stay there." Joshua whispered. "Once the oni is dead, then I will get her...but while that oni is around, she is in more danger than any of us."

Joshua reached into his belt loop and pulled out a small Japanese charm.

"Take this with you...as long as you carry it, the oni won't attack you."

Enigma nodded and took the charm. "Kirai?"

"Ma'am?" Kirai leaped to her feet and ran over to Enigma and Joshua.

"You're going to go with Enigma now, Kirai. She's going to keep you safe." Joshua demanded. Kirai shot a pained look at Joshua. "Don't look at me like that. This is for your own good." Joshua insisted. Kirai nodded and took Enigma's hand. Joshua turned to Enigma.

"Go quickly and be safe. We won't move out until you return."

"Don't worry I will," Enigma said telepathically.

Enigma then picked Kirai up as a mother would her daughter, "Hold on."

"We'll be waiting." Joshua called back.

Enigma closed her eyes and shifted back to her normal self, her blue skin and wings stood out like a sore thumb.

Enigma took a running start and with a whoosh took off her white wings glistening in the sunlight.

Kirai clung to her like a child holding onto its mother.

"Why won't Joshua let me stay?" She asked.

"Because he wants to keep you safe," Enigma replied.

Kirai groaned sadly "But...but I just...why does he want to protect me so much?"

"Because he loves you very much, and believe me, nothing is worse than losing someone you love that much."

Kirai frowned at Enigma. "But why can't I protect him?"

"Because to him you're even more important," Enigma replied, trying her best to keep her voice from cracking.

"...will you protect him for me?" Kirai asked as Enigma came down to land in front of a church.

"Danielle is going to be there to protect him, and I wouldn't have it any other way," Enigma said as she carried Kirai into the church.

Kirai stops at the door and looks back at Enigma.

"Miss Enigma...please look out for Joshua. He's like my daddy."

"I am looking out for him by protecting you." Enigma could feel Kirai's pain but she knew that if she left Kirai there's no telling what would happen.

"Okay...bye bye." Kirai whispered. She then walked away from Enigma and into the church building. The pastor of the church noticed her and smiled. He looked out at Enigma and winked.

"I'll look out for the child." He called out. "Tell Joshua I said hello."

"Take good care of her, I don't want the blood of another little girl on my hands," Enigma said her voice finally cracking.

"I will."

"Bye, Miss Enigma." Kirai called out. The pastor then closed the door behind him.

Enigma bowed her head in prayer, "God...I know I don't talk to you as often as I should but please protect that little girl...please."

"Enigma, is Kirai safe? We need you here as soon as possible." Joshua's thoughts called.

Enigma's head snapped up at the sound of his mental voice, "She is, I'm coming.

The trip back to the group seemed longer than the trip with Kirai. After what seemed like hours she finally landed.

The moment she landed Joshua smiled.

"Thank you, Enigma." Joshua said. Suddenly, Joshua grabbed his bow and pulled out an arrow, aiming directly at Enigma. "Now MOVE!" He roared.

Enigma quickly ducked out of the way pulling out her pistol and coming to stand next to Joshua.

"Sarah, Erik, Danielle, Frankie in formation!" Enigma barked.

Joshua fires off the arrow and there is a furious roar as a streak of grey fur goes dashing into the woods.

"I missed it's heart." Joshua growled. "The werewolf must have followed you from the church." He quickly grabs another silver arrow and places it on the string.

"Everyone okay?"

"I'm fine. Sound off!" Enigma shouted.

"Oh good," Erik said sighing in relief.

"Yo!" Frankie said dusting himself off.

"Bloody yank..." Sarah groaned.

"I didn't even get a chance to fire a shot," Danielle grumbled.

"All of you stay together. If we split up, the beast will pick you off one by one." Joshua shouted. "If you get a clear shot, aim for its heart. Only a silver bullet to the heart will kill a werewolf. Any questions?!"

"Nope," they replied in unison.

"Good." Joshua called. "But only fire if you think you can get a good shot! Werewolves can move faster than the human eye can track!"

"I might have an upper hand since I almost never miss," Danielle said.

"With a moving target you do!" Enigma reminded.

"That's why I gave you most of the silver bullets." Joshua said. "However, don't overestimate your skills around a werewolf...I need you on your toes."

"I have problems with my Achilles tendons from being on my toes for the past sixty-seventy plus years," Danielle replied.

Joshua suddenly spun and fired off an arrow into the trees, causing the beast to roar again. There was a howl and the giant wolf burst from the trees. Two arrows were sticking out of its chest.

"Tell that to him!"

Danielle took a second to quiet herself and then fired a shot aimed directly at the werewolf's heart.

The werewolf let out a yelp and collapsed to the ground.

"Don't go near it!" Joshua shouted. Joshua pulled out a silver knife and crept close to the wolf. "Sarah, I want you to come with me."

"Right behind you," Sarah whispered.

Joshua leans over the wolf and reaches into his bag, holding out an odd flower.

"Grind this up and sprinkle this on the heart wound. It's wolfsbane. This will make sure he doesn't get up again." Joshua then buried his knife into the chest of the wolf.

She did as she was told muttering what sounds suspiciously like the Lord's prayer.

The werewolf suddenly morphed into a human being wearing nothing but torn pants and with two arrow sticking out of his chest.

(As always, I'm typing as I write, so forgive me if I repeat something.) <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>

.....

I'd suggest being more specific about the TYPE of Glock. At first, I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about.

Good description on the weapons, very detailed and a good length.
Try and describe who Kirai is. It doesn't have to be long, just something like 'Danielle's friend/subordinate/commander-in-chief'. Something simple. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="LOL"/>

What cracked? Describe the sound and how it makes everyone feel.

I love the name Enigma, very creative and unique! I've got a thing for cool names.

Generally, people don't repeat one's name in the beginning of every sentence. Just a thought.

Whoa, big plot twist! I wasn't expecting vampires! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>

When Joshua tells Enigma to take the oni to the graveyard, the dialogue is very realistic, good job!

Try and talk a bit more about her telepathy. Maybe...
'"Don't worry, I will." Enigma said. But not a sound came out of her mouth, for she said it telepathically, each word sounding like a whisper in Joshua's ear'.

How did her wings come out of her back? Did they tear out of her back, did they rip her clothes, did they unfurl gracefully? Descriptions are a writer's best friend!

Personally, I'd rewrite it as 'After a few minutes, Kirai asked, "Enigma, why won't Joshua let me stay?"' I just think it's a bit more clear.

Oh, I love that line! "Because he loves you very much, and believe me, nothing is worse than losing someone you love that much."

When Kirai stops, you suddenly switch from past-tense to present-tense. I'm not sure if you meant it like that or not.

Very good, that line was great!
("Take good care of her, I don't want the blood of another little girl on my hands," Enigma said her voice finally cracking.)

When you state that 'Joshua fires off an arrow' it kind of contradicts the 'said' in the previous sentence, as the latter is past-tense. (Present tense would be 'Joshua says'.)

Cliffhanger! I like! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>

Overall, pretty good. There are a few mistakes, but the characters seem very complex and the plot twist is pretty well executed!

All I'd suggest is to expand on Kirai and Joshua's relationship. But other than that, nice work! Keep up the good work!
